After being released from the Daily drawing challenge I put myself in, which really made get the quite the hang on the digital tablet I got.
I felt like I needed to see the improvements on a actual drawing with care, or at least as much care I can put into;
Newgrounds city drawing went out like hot butter as I could even finish it in a single day work, and I really loved the result on that one as it was pretty much just using my main artstyle and what I am normally used to drawing.
SOL's higher rune symbol was an approach to a more experimental work, even approached the design of the character itself differently as this character is still growing to find it's own identity in terms of artstyle.
Gif didn't work so posting steps separate
l Went slow on this one as it took 5 days to complete after the other since I didn't have a clear picture of what I wanted to portrait in the piece as the gif progress shows how different early steps look so different to the final work, at first I wanted to do sorta of a tarot card style piece despicting SOL as the Magician but it conflicted with wanting long hair covering the sides of the canvas, visions conflicted and opted to discard the tarot card and went for second.
I finished the Lineart and then it came the wall, the coloring...
Sometimes working slowly helps flesh out more the ideas you have in mind but there's the risk you might overthink and make a mess trying to fulfill all of them, unfortunately I am still a beginner in rendering and "Complex" color themes, so I don't have a clear route and most of the time I experiment with layers effects to reach something I like; being something stylish rather than detailed.
I went on a full free time day browsing through my feed to find art which ressemble the style I had in mind and sometimes watch Art process to understand how they visualize their work, sadly most of the work I did find to it didn't have wips or process of sorts.
Kinda why I post mine in case someone is curious on how I work
But at least I had a clue on it, so started to work and while at it I even thought of restarting the coloring after I finished and make alts of the piece, but I reconsidered it after a bit of reasoning it would be not be so good to focus way too much on this piece.
So unless the first result was nothing alike what I had in mind, I would take what I get and practice with a new piece instead.
Then, after 2 days coloring and adding finishing touches it was done.
Did I add way too many stars in the background?
Honestly, it's not what I had in mind, but I liked it nonetheless; considering this was my first attempt at a new style that I hadn't worked at before, I would say I accomplished something neat 🌟
Now that it's finished it's time to approach the next piece, these artistic bursts will not project themselves!
Take care everyone and thanks for reading all the way here, really wanted to share what had been on my mind these few days while working on this.
