Media's nature and The Primeval Current

What is Media and The Primeval Current?

Media is essentially the energy that composes atoms in the universe, which an alternative name given to it was Cosmic Energy.

Everything proceeds a system of configurations that make use of media and this log records everything inside it like DNA which is why it was later given the name media as a group of data recollected through the use of this one. Think of it like a system that studies itself and evolves.

Everything that gets recorded inside media goes to an invisible flow called ''The collective knowledge'', which is where data gets saved inside media.

Everything proceeds this way until an "Entity" is created, a being capable of thought which gets recorded inside the media, every thought, and every action uses traces of media. Media could exert influences over itself, which created sentience and commands, just like how your brain executes orders to your body. Entities are capable of exerting influences on the media to do actions, and every thought gets recorded further and further in an evergrowing log of data that keeps transforming.

This is the primeval current in which media resides.

Soon, as media was a complex string of annihilation and deconstruction and reconstruction, the atoms of the world screamed as they were inverted and subverted and demoted to energy. Produced by sentience and allowing sentience to think, it became a knot tying that braids into its own string. In short words, it's a set of all tangles made by a single one. And with it, irregularities were created

The collective knowledge had been corrupted by itself, with thoughts of false truths being recorded inside it: lies, theories, religion, rumors, fallacy, enlightenment, etc.

Media begins accumulating in the mutated matter, and with this Cosmic entities were created Mutations varied and were like they could exert specific orders into the media, in which all entities could control if they were inside the flow of media related to their output capacity. This, however, doesn't work like a mana system, as it's really not a mysterious source of magic power; but a complex system of commands and resources.

"The crystals that contain vast amounts of Media come from the stars, they are all concentrated with media but sometimes there's also an irregularity, it's not known what causes this specifically on the shards but they contain cosmic wisdom about the great work in influencing the universe's command only the Engineers and Heofongebod scholars seem to understand..." "There are plenty rumors about where these weird chunky shards come from, lotsa folks believe it's some sort of the gods blessing, others believe they are new minerals that fell from meteorites and started developing into our ecosystem and some even say they're the crystallized corpses of those supposed "gods", either way, it doesn't matter where do they come from, I just know for sure that all the church capital higher-ups are crazy rascals about it... They would surely go over your neck just to get that little sphere thing you're always carrying, so be careful."

The wisdom inside Primeval shards uttered words of Great Cosmic Entities, which are incomprehensible through human speech. They are metaphorical concepts elevated to an inhuman state, which can only be transcribed into symbols.

"THE TRANSCRIPTION OF THE GREAT ENTITIES' INHUMAN VOICE RIPPLES LIKE A WATERY REFLECTION WE FLOW IN THE PRIMEVAL CURRENT RESONATE WITH IT AND RAPTURE"

More on Lady!

Lady is a superb fighter who takes lots of harsh jobs, most of her scars are pretty old but she hasn't shared where exactly these old wounds come from, she just shared that the scar on her face left side was because of a messed up gun...

SOL once asked about her eyepatch and wondered if she had a reason to wear it (Being that she doesn't really mind her scars), she told him it was such a bother to keep her damaged eye closed so she wears an eyepatch to be able to focus her aim at all times. (She makes up for her hearing for the lack of her vision field)

Elesia asked why Lady lets her hair grow so much, even as to wonder if she ever had a haircut before which she answered "Never, it'll ruin my balance" She also told her it works as a distraction plus her coat so enemies can't aim at her back so easily and hit a vital organ since being quite tall makes her a standout target.

SOL thinks they're like the media traits to show more of Lady's origin trait (He thinks they're kinda cute too, which Lady once offered he could even feel them all although it was obviously a trap he swiftly evaded.)

Lady's blade is akin to a sabre, however, the handle crossguard is custom work from modifications made by the Engineers and SOL which makes it akin to quick-draw techniques and two-handling for the use of artifact runes inscribed inside the blade for media usage. There was a time she was drunk in a job on capturing a target without killing them and her drunk ass thought using a gun would be too risky so aimed her sheath towards the fleeing target and just released the media storage making the sword pop out flying straight and knock out the target with the handle. Elesia was both impressed by that action and being so irresponsible of being drunk.

Lady likes guns over swords but she prefers to stick with her one-handed Evelyn as she always carries it inside her coat, for her it always comes to using bullets first then the blade. Lady is currently one of the few people who could give SOL a hard time if they even decided to fight, however, even if it happened so, they both would think it would be a massive waste of resources.

''The Vagabond of the Cosmos''

SOL is not the only candidate for Grand Caster among Media Entities, there's this mysterious wanderer who goes in and out of all kinds of places in different planes; older than our Fallen Star, he seems to know something SOL doesn't, he barely casts media commands and doesn't seem to have fabricated a unique magecraft like SOL's gravitational rune yet he earned his respect as a comrade.

"We've been both fellow witnesses to the true nature of this universe yet; We're different... You are different, not human, but something else... heh, guess I can hardly be called human myself too. May you have success in your journey, hopefully, we'll find the answers we each seek."

An interdimensional traveler doesn't recall the place from which he hails even after entering the records, his personality shows that he has some years behind him because he acts like a middle-aged man, a bit grumpy on heavy work but pretty down to earth.

His origin trait lets him perceive the essence of other entities akin to their origin trait to a soul, not a lie detector but something like a scanner. In a conversation between him and SOL, Elesia overheard that he might have an apprentice and that he could be currently residing in the Capital.

As per Elesia tradition, she calls him "Mister Onyx" because of his flaming head resembling the white and black colors of the mineral with the same name. He smokes quite a lot and because his head is literally a flame, he never has trouble getting them lit although...

"How does a flame smoke?"

Author notes: Back when I was designing the tempest unit manifested traits due to the media leak on its core, I wanted to portray ''a burst of tree root-like horns'' which also made me think to add branches that kinda gave me vibes to Cleric beasts from Bloodborne which are a reference to wendigos; later on, it reminded me of Japanese dragon gods creatures like Seiryu or Megaten's Kohryu. As for early draft lore interpretations, the rune which you see inside its core was meant to be a rune that had unknown properties but was enveloped in the ''mystery'' of the universe. Something Casters simply reject as their mission is to find the ''truth'', so I brushed it off as something random and as a showcase of the risks of using this rune. The Tempest Unit was meant to be the vessel of the Star which SOL was before becoming ''SOL'', this was supposed to add a question into what kind of entity SOL was supposed to be as a star and if this has anything to do with his current existence.
